Today, at Sunday worship, Pastor Bob’s awesome message was on God’s grace. He
punctuated what he was sharing with a powerful little video from The Skit Guys
(Tommy Woodard and Eddie James).
So many of us are like Peter… thinking that we have to work off some sin or another in our life. Sometimes that burden has been placed on us by a church or religious organization. You can’t earn God’s grace. You can’t get God’s grace by belonging to the right club (or you might say: church). It’s not by our works that we are saved, but by the grace of God, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we are saved by His grace.
Years ago, I learned an acrostic that that describes grace:

I was blessed by many a Church. My longest stay as an adult was 11 years. That was an experience I will never forget. There was no position to be held, there was no thought about condemnation, and the whole Church was the choir. My Pastor said I would become a Pastor and it takes 12 years. After the 12th year I ended up in Chaplain school.
ReplyDeleteThe head Chaplain asked the 3 students who wants to be a Chaplain. I only said yes and they hired me. It was by grace. I did not even know what a Chaplain is. It is a Pastor with the ministry of helps. I stopped by my old Bible college to sit in a class. They prayed for me and the Teacher said I have a Public Ministry like Jesus Christ.
After I left I said Whoa! I would not have said that in a million years. I accepted my role as Community Chaplain years ago. I have Church without walls every day.
